I started off blogging mainly to have an outlet for the thoughts that were going on in my head during the height of the intifada. Then I felt as though I were contributing to the hasbara effort, as well as providing a news service to friends and other people overseas. I recently decided to retire from blogging. Mainly I felt I was no longer doing it for fun, and that it had become a chore. Also, echoing Ben Caspit's question, I began to wonder why I was spending so much time working on something that felt like a chore and for which I was getting no money.
