Lisa, I know many Palestinians who grew up in Acre and Jaffa who used to commute to school in Beirut or Chouifet by boat! As I commented at Leb Bloggers and posted a few weeks ago at LPJ (lebop.blogspot), the synagogue is in bad condition right now. I went by the other night. Twice this week I've tried to get into the Jewish cemetary in downtown Beirut. It's always locked. PR, Fantastic description.
