Come on, folks, in most countries that have some kind of free elections, most of the time, somewhere between a bit less and a bit more than half the voters vote for parties that are more or less left-leaning. Do you really think that there's any place out of California where somewhere between a bit less and a bit more than the population consists of hippies and lesbians?
