Nobody,
It's cool. I didn't take any offense, and I understood what you were driving at.
I think you and I are in actual agreement here, when i say "fundemental dispute", i mean disputes that are either existential in nature, or territorial. Lebanon, per se, does not have any such disputes with Israel. Now when I say Lebanon, i mean the general idea of the state of Lebanon and its people. I am not referring to specific elements that currently reside inside Lebanon.
Those, as you point out, have plenty of disputes with Israel, but you'll notice something in common between all of them: They are not inherently representing Lebanon.
Hezbollah do not represent Lebanon, but Iran.
The Palestinian refugees represent..well...their idea of returning to Palestine.
Syrian allies represent Syria.
Which takes me back to the concept of fundemental disputes. None of those parties i list above count, in my opinion, as fundementally Lebanese, or having anything to do with Lebanese's fundemental interests.
So yes, I stand by my point: Lebanon has no fundemental dispute with Israel. And as you point out, I believe the 2 states are natural allies, firmly belonging in the "western sphere" of democracy.
Obviously, right now, we're not there yet. And there are these elements you mention, who do have disputes with you, and who do choose to exercise their disputes from Lebanon. That's an issue that free and democratic Lebanon will have to tackle, or sink into the abyss.
