Nobody, In case Lebanon does nt want to alienate the arab countries it can settle for something less impressive than a full peace accord. Permanent ceasefire agreement , 1949 style, will do. I think this is exactly what's gonna happen for now. 1949 Armistice rules. Full peace will come when the rest of the arab world makes peace with Israel (sooner rather than later, I hope). The lebanese should simply decide what they want . Do they want to concentrate on developing their country and limit their role in the israeli arab conflict with verbal expressions of solidarity with the humanitarian plight of the palestinians? Or they want to keep their country on standy as a potential second front against Israel activated occasionally by Hezbollah on orders from Syria/Iran? Bingo. I think this is exactly right. I listed the "we're dependent on our arab neighbours" to explain that it isn't as easy as declaring peace with Israel tomorrow. But, having said that, in the end, it really does come down to the Lebanese people. Or more specifically, the Lebanese people being able to overule (for lack of a better term) these leaders that we have who are so wrapped up in their foreign agendas. I'm honestly not holding my breath here...at least not for now. Lebanese people still haven't learned to think as Lebanese. They still think in terms of sectarian interests first.
