Re: This is Sweden calling
by Anonymous
Sounds exciting, I hope this lecture turns out fine! Well, if you want my take on blogging and conflict, blogging is only a tool for peace if you actually: a) when you read OTHER people's blogs too, and not be one of those people who 'produce their own reality and then believe. And by that, I mean allowing oneself to read dissenting ideas, to click on those websites he disagrees with. Remaining in one's own little circle of like-minded people kinda kills the whole purpose of it.. b) aim to address a large audience when you write, which includes those who disagree with you. And when you do, you will realise that you are really doing this extra bit of effort, whether it's explaining a concept or translating an local expression, which is not only conducive to dialogue, but also leads the author him/herself to reconsider their own positions, to seek the mosr convincing arguments, etc. Anyways. Just my 2 cents. I just got back from a trip to Lebanon (Beirut and the South) which was super interesting, and quite frightening with all the demonstrations and the riots! But surely worth it :) I posted some photos on my blog (yep, shameful auto-advertisement ;P) Have fun in Sweden! (oh, and Boston was -18 today.. so nobody out there complain!!! :)
