Re: Through the eyes of an Israeli abroad
by
Anonymous
Some feedback (although from a non-Israeli):
Well, I can say that I'm pretty familiar with this outsider's view of the Middle East. And I can definitely see (around me here in the US) how some people, who don't really "get" the Middle East, adpoting this simplistic view of Israel as the "unprovoked aggressor".
But the story started losing me towards the end, with the "poor palestinians stuck with crappy missiles" and the "their leaders are so brave and good they stockpile money in swiss bank accounts".
I hate to harp on that bit, because, really, that's not the point of the story. But I'm hard pressed to find any Tim, Rob or Kate who are uneducated (for lack of a better word) enough about the Middle East to think Israel is an unprovoked aggressor but who still know enough to think Palestinians and their leaders are these poor victims to be pitied.
I'm sorry, but everywhere I've ever been, even amongst those who just don't get Israel's viewpoint, I really don't see people sympathizing with suicide bombings, or money embezzlment. People might pity the Palestinians overall, I get that, but no one is saying "Poor guys. The commit suicide bombings out of boredom." That last 2 paragraphs was a bit...heavy on hyperbole, in my very humble opinion (feel free to completely ignore said opinion).
