I agree with you mostly Anon, but I was recently at dinner with my brother (we're Americans), and the subject of last summer's war came up. He's a smart, educated guy who doesn't follow the Middle East much but does listen to NPR and watch the news and all those such things...When the topic of Hizbullah came up, his comment was that he hadn't heard anything about Hizbullah that he didn't like. All the media that has managed to sink in with him were how Hizbullah provides help to Lebanese people. I could see as I attempted to present a more nuanced view (in my opinion anyways), that he couldn't really break out from the mindset of Israel oppresses and those who fight her are thus fully justified in whatever they do. I think a lot of people that I know would say the same thing about the Palestinians, and have little or no problem with corruption on their side. Thank you for sharing this translation, Lisa.
