You are right, it is always a problem how to transliterate vowels in Arabic (only 3, pronounced with great variation according to region) into Latin languages. Recent standards in transliteration is to only use "i, u, a" unless widely off the mark. Hence, "Adunis" conforms to the current Arabic transliteration rules, if we set a side for now that it is not an Arabic name to start with :)
