Remember when, in 2001, CNN showed footage of 1990 and claimed it was of people cheering the September 11th attacks? It was a huge scandal (though not half as big as it should have been, though). That story was completely untrue. The footage was provably new, and there wasn't even any plausible reason to have claimed otherwise.
